Sometimes designers choose to remove their free patterns AFTER they’ve been made available for free. So what happens is they make the pattern available for free on their website, and they submit their listing here to Crochet Pattern Bonanza where we share that listing with you. But then, for whatever reason, they decide to remove the free pattern, but still keep a paid version of it up.
In the past, I have gone over those listings and removed the beautiful patterns, as this has always been a free crochet patterns directory.
BUT, is that the right thing to do? Is that what you, the reader, the crocheter, would like to continue to happen?
One of the PROS to continuing to removing patterns when the free version is taken down is that it helps to keep the directory clean! You see a pattern and you know it’s FREE!!! Simple, Easy, Peasy.
But, one of the CONS of that is that by deleting the listings I’m taking away your CHOICE as to whether or not you want to make that purchase. Sometimes, as much as we all LOVE free crochet patterns, there’s a pattern that just catches our eye and we just got to have it, regardless of the cost! And chances are, if that listing is removed here, you may never find it elsewhere because paid listings are much harder to show up in search engine results.
It’s a tough decision to make on my end, which is why I’m leaving the decision to you. I would really appreciate you taking a few minutes of your time to share your feedback.
I’m using a basic Gravity form, which does not allow for me to set up a proper poll for you to see instant results. But I promise you that each response will be counted as it arrives in my inbox. And the response with the most votes will win. If time allows, I may share updates here, or in my newsletter from time to time.
- Voting will end May 14th, 12pm EST.
- Voting is open to everyone, but please only submit one vote. :) Thank you!
- ALL votes will be counted.
- The response with the most vote wins!
- Verdict will be announced in newsletter between May 17th and May 23rd.
4 votes for paid patterns.
30+ votes for free only.
Free it remains, I will try my best to remove paid patterns as times allows when designers choose to remove the free versions. :)
THANK YOU SO MUCH TO ALL WHO VOTED!
