The classic, traditional granny square is such a versatile crochet square, but sometimes, they can take on a wonky shape, either butterflying aka caving in on the sides, bowing out and puffy on the sides, slanting heavily to one side or even just taking on a rounded shape instead of square. Wonky shaped granny squares make for wonky shaped crochet projects, but shaping issues are easy to fix by either adding or taking away chains or blocking the finished square.

In the tutorial, worsted weight yarn and a H8/5mm crochet hook are used, but this technique applies to any yarn with the respective sized crochet hook.
