This tutorial will teach you how to crochet the crab stitch, which is also known as the reverse single crochet. The stitch is great for adding a textured edge, but can also be used to add textures throughout the fabric as well.

The crab stitch is different from most other stitches as you cannot work into the crab stitch, but if you leave either the front or back loops free as you crochet the main fabric, you can incorporate this in surface crochet.
