Open Stitch – Crochet Barbie Blanket

This crochet doll blanket pattern requires only a small amount of yarn, so you can easily use up your leftovers from other projects. It’s the perfect size for Barbie, but you can also use this for other dolls as well.

This one only measures about 11 inches square, but you could easily increase this to any size you need by increasing in the stitch multiple provided. Here is a handy blanket sizes chart to take the guesswork out when making adjustments.

Open Stitch – Crochet Barbie Blanket

Skill Level: Beginner

Finished Size: 11″ by 11″.

Materials

Yarn: Bernat Baby Sport (Light, #3; 100% acrylic; 300g/10.5oz) Small Amount.
Crochet Hook: G 4.00mm
Other: Measuring Tape, Scissors, Yarn Needle.

Abbreviations:

Ch/Chs = Chain/Chains
Dc = Double Crochet
Rep = Repeat
Sc = Single Crochet
Sk = Skip
Sp/Sps = Space/Spaces
St/Sts = Stitch/Stitches

Pattern Instructions:

Row 1: Ch 43, or any multiple of 8 + 3. dc in third ch from hook and into each ch across. (Skipped Chs do not count as st) Turn. [41 sts]

Row 2: Ch 2 (does not count as st now and throughout), dc in first 3 sts, *ch 3, sk next 3 sts, dc in next 5 sts; rep from * to last 6 sts; ch 3, sk next 3 sts, dc in last 3 sts. Turn. [26 sts and 5 ch-3 sps]

Row 3: Ch 2, dc in first 3 sts, *work 3 dc into ch-3 sp, dc in next 5 sts; rep from * to last ch-3 sp, 3 dc in last ch-3 sp, dc in last 3 sts. Turn. [41 sts]

Row 4: Ch 2, dc in first 7 sts, *ch 3, sk next 3 sts, dc in next 5 sts; rep from * across to the last 2 sts, dc in last 2 sts. Turn. [29 sts and 4 ch-3 sps]

Row 5: Ch 2, dc in first 7 sts, *work 3 dc in ch-3 sp, dc in next 5 sts; rep from * to the last 2 sts, dc in last 2 sts. Turn. [41 sts]

Rows 6-19: Rep Rows 2-5 ending with Row 3 at last row.

Edging: Ch 1, sc evenly around working 3 sc into each corner. Fasten off.
