Chunky Double V-Stitch Hat

This chunky, feminine hat works up quickly from headband to crown. And anything as pretty as this makes for a lovely gift, especially when it’s such a quick project.

Materials

• Finished Size: Teen/Adult: 21” (53.5 cm) hat circumference x 7.5” (19 cm) height.
• Gauge: 8 sts = 2.5” (6.5 cm) wide in pattern for headband. For best fit, always check your gauge.

Skills Used

• Basic crochet stitches: chain, double crochet, single crochet, slip stitch
• Crocheting flat in rows (for headband), crocheting in the round (for rest of hat)
• Skipping stitches, crocheting in chain spaces, crocheting in the back loop only
• Special stitch: dv-st (with written instructions in pattern)

Materials

• Sprightly Acrylic Super Bulky yarn (100% acrylic, 3.5 oz/100 g/109 yd/100 m) – 2 skeins in 502-012 Suede, or approximately 120 yd (109 m) in any super bulky weight yarn. PLEASE NOTE: I used exactly 1 skein of yarn for this project, so if your gauge is different than mine, you will run out before finishing. That’s why I recommend getting 2 skeins of yarn just in case.
• US Size L-11/8 mm crochet hook, or size needed to obtain gauge.
• Yarn needle.
