Simple stitches highlight stunning yarn colors in this feminine, buttoned cowl.

Measurements

  • Finished Size: Adult: 22” (56 cm) neck circumference x 6.5” (16.5 cm) long after blocking.
  • Gauge: 15 sts in pattern for Neck Band = 1.75” (4.5 cm). Exact gauge is not critical for this project.

Skills Used

  • Basic crochet stitches: chain, double crochet, single crochet, slip stitch
  • Crocheting flat in rows (for neckband), crocheting in the round (for cowl body)
  • Changing colors, picking up stitches

Materials

  • Lorna’s Laces Shepherd Sock String Quintet yarn (80% superwash Merino wool/20 % nylon, 4.5 oz/123 g/535 yd/489 m) – 5 mini skeins, or approximately 326 yd (298 m) in any super fine weight yarn.
  • US Size D-3 (3.25 mm) crochet hook, or size needed to obtain gauge.
  • Yarn needle.
  • 1/2” diameter sew-through button.
