Crochet Baby Blanket – Puffs and Eyelets
The baby blanket is worked in rows using simple stitches along with the puff stitch to create a simple, yet pretty textured fabric. The puff stitch is worked across the single crochet to create a nice slanted look.
If you are familiar with the puff stitch and cross stitch, then you are ready to make this.
Skill Level: Intermediate
Materials
- Yarn: Bernat Baby Sport (Light, #3; 100% acrylic; 280g/9.8oz; 1004yds/918m) Color: Coral, 1 ball.
- Crochet Hook: G – 4mm.
- Other: Measuring Tape, Scissors, Yarn Needle
For babies, choose a soft acrylic yarn that washes well. I used Bernat Baby Sport. The yarn is not only economical but durable as well.
Other suitable yarns for babies include cotton yarn, soft cotton blends, bamboo and other soft yarns labeled as baby-safe.
For older kids and blankets for the home, choose a regular worsted-weight yarn.
Measurements
- Gauge: 16 sts/chs = 4
- Finished Size: 28″ by 28″
The finished size of this crochet baby blanket is only about 28 inches square. This is perfect for preemie babies and small newborns. It’s perfect for car seats and strollers during the cooler weather.
Customize the size by adjusting your starting chains and number of rows. Simply choose your favorite yarn and hook size and make the necessary changes needed to obtain the size you want. Use this crochet blanket sizes chart.
